End of Summer...

Hot days continue to plague north central Texas with a constant teasing of rain in the forecast which seldom materializes. While yankees north of the Mason-Dixon line suffer from lack of sunshine during the winter months, I realized this summer that I suffer from seasonal summer depression when I can't plant anything, everything I planted in the spring is wilting or dying and there is no relief in sight from the seemingly endless string of 100+ degree days...my water garden has been an amazing source of therapy for me. Something is always growing in the water garden!

We have been on water restrictions since mid June and with no significant rain in the forecast, there is rumor that our area will soon be on tightest restrictions. Currently this is where we stand...

Water bill:
single family households are limited to 15,000 gallons per month at regular water rates...15-20k rates double...20-25k rates triple...25-30k rates quadruple...over 30k water is disconnected.

We are at stage 3 restrictions, which means water system can be turned on only once a week on designated trash pick-up days. No standing water anywhere, hand watering this year's planting, trees and shrubs only, soaker hose on home foundations...o.k.. If we go to stage 4 (and there is rumor it will be soon upon us) then all outside watering will be banned. Tickets will be issued, water could be disconnected. Some suburbs have banned new landscaping.

Well, it's end of summer & I haven't updated the blog in a while so I am posting a variety pack of photos & other sundry items...enjoy!
