2019 - Year In Review

Houston Road Trips

April We made several weekend trips to Houston for fun and adventures. The Houston Art Car Show in April had been on my bucket list for ages. One of our bicycle buddies, Tin Nguyen joined in the cruising and crawfish fun. What a great weekend of bicycles and art. Two of our favorite things.

May Sean came home from deployment and Dante and I were there to see him fly into Austin.

Where to start...2019 was a B_G year for BFSD!

Stanley and Stan. Brothers from different mothers.
Mr. Stanley Harris.

June   After three years of planning, lots of meetings, throwing caution to the wind to pop-up in parks around south Dallas sans any type of permit or permission, BFSD had a ribbon cutting! This was such a far out dream none of the board members involved from the beginning ever dared to speculate that one day THIS day would happen, and yet it did.

September  Stan's non-profit Bike Friendly South Dallas was asked to host the sponsor kick-off for THE Emmit Smith's Gran Fondo Bike Rally. It was a really big deal and it brought recognition to the BFSD Resource Center and the good work that is happening in the south Dallas community. BFSD received $2500 from Emmit Smith's Gran Fondo!

BFSD served the hosts at the Gran Fondo Stop #1 on their big ride through Collin County. It was a long hot day but we learned a lot and supported thousands of riders by assisting with refreshments, minor bike repairs and shouting encouragements. Overall a good experience.
